Pune: iWGA presents with immense pleasure this year’s Awardee in Education category, Dr. Radhike Khanna. A philanthropist, an educationist, a social worker, but most importantly a warm and kind-hearted person with the will and ability to ‘make things happen’, Dr. Radhike Khanna is also an Art Of Living Teacher. Having devoted 33 years of her life striving for the development of people with special needs, Dr. Khanna broke away from the traditional mold to spark revolutionary changes for their instruction and empowerment. She has worked tirelessly for the education, training, and rehabilitation of the developmentally disabled, as well as for autistic children and young adults.
Dr. Radhike founded the Om Creations Trust and the Shraddha Charitable Trust, both pioneering projects in the rehabilitation of developmentally challenged women and autistic men. These visionarily planned and meticulously executed workshops aim at integrating the developmentally disabled into the national mainstream, thus enabling them to earn a livelihood and lead independent lives.
FACE - Facing Autism through Communication with the Environment, is one of the many pioneer programmes started by Dr. Khanna. Envisioning a brighter future for children and adults with ‘special needs’, Dr. Khanna has put her efforts into play through numerous ‘Training the Trainers’ programmes across national and international platforms. Apart from attending and participating in the ‘Global Initiatives for Change’ conference in Switzerland, the 16th Annual Learning Disorders Conference at Harvard, USA. Dr. Radhike has also gone on to write two books that encapsulate revolutionary teaching methods for those with mental challenges namely, “A Guide to Pre-Vocational Teaching”, “Building Creativity in Formative Years”
We, at iWGA, really appreciate her visionary thinking and undaunting spirit. We wish her loads of success for further endeavors.
