Zachary Robert Dysart, 39, Tragically Killed in Sioux Falls Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 29

Sioux Falls, South Dakota – A tragic motorcycle accident on Interstate 29 early Sunday morning, September 22, 2024, has claimed the life of Zachary Robert Dysart, a 39-year-old resident.

The collision occurred around 1:24 a.m. near mile marker 77, when Dysart’s 2013 Victory Cross Country motorcycle rear-ended a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck. According to reports from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the semi was slowing down in the far right lane, preparing to exit at 26th Street, when the fatal crash took place. Dysart, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck and a passenger were unharmed.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, focusing on factors such as road conditions and visibility, to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The sudden loss has left the community in shock, with friends and fellow motorcyclists expressing their condolences. As one person shared, “He was a great guy who loved riding, and this is just heartbreaking.”

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is expected to release more details as the investigation progresses.
