Palmyra, Maine – Virginia Cookson, a devoted mother, tragically lost her life on September 25, 2024, as a result of a domestic violence homicide.
The devastating incident has left her family and friends in shock, mourning the loss of a woman who had so much life left to live.
Virginia, who had recently started a new job and was making efforts to distance herself from her abusive partner, had broken up with the man responsible for her murder.
Her final posts on social media were about making positive changes, removing stress, and doing what was right for herself.
Virginia’s cousin, Danielle Rae Clark, expressed her heartbreak on Facebook, writing, “I’m still shocked! Virginia Cookson was my oldest cousin… She was trying to get away from the man that murdered her. She had broken up with him… She was still so young with so much life left in her. It’s not fair."
The Cookson family, particularly Virginia’s daughter Karmyn, who had a close relationship with her mother, is grappling with the unimaginable loss.
A fundraiser has been organized by Virginia’s mother, Sheryl Vanadestine, to support Karmyn through this difficult time and cover funeral expenses.
Condolences poured in from friends and family, with many echoing the sentiment of deep sorrow and calls for justice in the wake of this senseless tragedy.
