Cicero, New York – Steven Burgwin, a 67-year-old resident of Cicero, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
The fatal collision occurred around 9 a.m. when Burgwin’s motorcycle collided with an SUV on South Bay Road near Whiting Road.
According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Burgwin was traveling northbound when the crash happened.
Despite prompt response from emergency services, Burgwin was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries sustained in the impact.
The SUV driver involved has not been named, and authorities have yet to issue any citations.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
In the aftermath, the road was temporarily closed to allow the sheriff’s office to investigate and ensure public safety.
Burgwin, affectionately known as "Happy Jack" by friends and family, is remembered for his positivity and dedication as a mentor in the local hockey community.
