Newberry County, South Carolina – Robert Wise, 49, and his wife, Valencia Jones Wise, 48, both of Chapin, South Carolina, were tragically killed in a car accident on Friday morning, September 27, 2024.
The fatal crash occurred when their vehicle veered off Chapman Road in the Little Mountain area and collided with a tree.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9:30 a.m., but despite their swift arrival, both Robert and Valencia were pronounced dead due to the severity of their injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and Newberry County Coroner’s Office are investigating the cause of the accident.
Authorities are examining whether road conditions, weather, or other factors contributed to the crash.
Robert and Valencia Wise were beloved members of the Chapin community, known for their kindness and dedication to family and friends.
Their passing has prompted an outpouring of grief and condolences.
A close friend expressed, “We’re deeply saddened by the loss of Robert and Valencia.
They were wonderful people, and this is a huge loss for everyone who knew them.”
Another friend, Stephanie Schaff, shared on social media, “I am shocked and saddened by Rob’s passing… he was wise beyond his years and always brought joy into my life.”
A memorial service is expected to be announced as the family makes arrangements to honor the couple’s lives.
