Monica Robarge, New Smyrna Beach Woman, Dies in Domestic Shooting Incident; Boyfriend Arrested

New Smyrna Beach, FL – Monica Robarge, a resident of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, tragically passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, following a domestic-related shooting.

The incident occurred at her home on Liza Clinton Road in Edgewater around 5 p.m.

According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Robarge sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her upper torso after an argument with her boyfriend, Charlie Sawyer.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities responded promptly to reports of a domestic altercation and found Sawyer with minor injuries.

He was treated for graze wounds and is now in custody, pending further investigation.

A statement from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office indicated that detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Friends of Robarge have expressed their deep sorrow on social media, with one grieving friend stating, “Please pray for my close friend’s family… she died this evening, a victim of domestic abuse.

She will be missed by many.”

Robarge was remembered as a lover of nature, animals, and children, and a graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School.

Funeral arrangements and an official obituary will be released by her family in due course.
