Marti Shuda of Stevens Point Passes Away at 84, Family and Friends Mourn Loss

Stevens Point, Wisconsin – Martha “Marti” A. Shuda, aged 84, passed away on September 20, 2024. Marti, a longtime resident of Stevens Point, leaves behind a large, loving family and a legacy of dedication to her community and family. Her funeral services will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 10:30 AM, with visitation beginning on Tuesday, September 24, at Shuda Funeral Chapel.

Marti was born on July 28, 1940, in Gary, Indiana, to Frank and Selma Rebeck. She grew up in central Wisconsin and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1958. After completing cosmetology school, she worked as a beautician in Milwaukee, where she met her husband, James “Jim” Shuda. The couple married in 1962 and moved to Stevens Point, where they founded Shuda Funeral Chapel. Together, they raised seven children and built a life centered around family and service to the community.

Marti’s love for her family was evident in all she did. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed gardening, golfing, and bowling, as well as taking Caribbean cruises and spending time at her second home in Arizona.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim; two sons, Dean and Scott; four daughters, Sandra, Dawn, Kari, and Tracy; as well as 30 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her sister Chris Wierzba also survives her. Marti was preceded in death by her son Kip, her parents, a brother, and an infant sister.

Friends and family have shared their condolences and memories on Facebook. Dean Shuda expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. I was and am a lucky son of hers!”
