St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador – The local community is mourning the loss of Jonathan Nichol, a cherished drag queen performer who captivated audiences as Reign Michaels.
Nichol’s death was confirmed on Sunday, September 29, 2024, bringing an outpouring of grief and tributes from friends, family, and fans who admired his vibrant spirit and dedication to the art of drag.
Although the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, the impact of his loss is deeply felt across the drag community and beyond.
Known for his performances that radiated joy and passion, Nichol left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of experiencing his talent.
To support Nichol’s family during this difficult period, a fundraiser has been launched by Jennifer Stockley, with donations contributing to easing the financial burden.
The top contribution thus far is $125, made by supporter Ophelia Ravencroft.
A memorial event to honor Nichol’s legacy will take place at Velvet Club & Lounge on Friday, October 4, where attendees can pay their respects and celebrate his life.
