Wayland, Michigan – John Arthur Oetman, a cherished and well-known resident of Wayland, tragically passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the age of 54.
He succumbed to injuries sustained in a devastating accident, leaving behind a profound legacy of faith, love, and service to his community.
John was a man deeply rooted in his Christian faith and was admired for his unwavering commitment to his family.
Recently, he had celebrated the joy of becoming a grandfather, a role he truly treasured.
Known throughout the Wayland community for his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need, his absence will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege to know him.
Visitation for John Oetman is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wayland Christian Reformed Church, located at 303 E. Elm St., Wayland, MI.
A memorial service will follow on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., with an additional visitation period from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
John will be laid to rest privately at Hooker Cemetery in Leighton Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in John’s honor to Wayland Christian Reformed Church or Hope Unexpected, as a tribute to his life of generosity and kindness.
