County Mayo, Ireland – Jessie Lawrence, a 35-year-old mother from Stratford on Avon, tragically passed away after suffering severe brain injuries from a fall in a vacation home in Cong, County Mayo, Ireland.
The incident occurred last month while she was checking on her crying baby late at night.
Lawrence fell down the stairs and was found by her partner, Graeme (Jimmy) Toney, bleeding at the bottom of the steps.
Toney immediately called emergency services, but despite being rushed to Mayo University Hospital, Lawrence was declared dead on August 18, 2024, in the intensive care unit.
Dr. Tamas Nemeth’s postmortem examination revealed that Lawrence died due to cerebral herniation caused by the severe brain injuries she sustained from the fall.
Authorities, including Gardaí, investigated the incident and found no evidence of foul play.
Lawrence’s family made the selfless decision to donate her organs, including her kidneys and liver, an act described as "one of the most noble things a family can agree to do," according to Pat O’Connor, the coroner for Mayo.
Sgt. Noel Crinnegan, of An Garda Síochána, and other officials expressed their condolences to Lawrence’s grieving family.
She is survived by her partner and their two young daughters, Orlagh and Rhonagh, aged four and six.
