Hilton Head Island, South Carolina – The Bluffton community is mourning the tragic loss of 25-year-old Cory Devon McKie Jr., who was fatally shot at Fiddlers Cove on Hilton Head Island in the early hours of September 28, 2024.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting occurred just before 2:24 a.m., and deputies arrived to find McKie already deceased.
The peaceful neighborhood has been left in shock by the violent incident.
Authorities have arrested 25-year-old Charles Quincy Barron, also from Bluffton, in connection with McKie’s death.
Barron is facing charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
He is currently being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center as the investigation, with assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), continues.
