Cooper City, Florida – Caitlynn Heron, a 23-year-old resident of Cooper City, tragically lost her life in a car accident early Wednesday morning on October 2, 2024.
The accident occurred when a vehicle carrying two individuals crashed into a canal near Griffin Road and Southwest 90th Avenue.
Heron, the driver, was unable to escape the submerged car, while her passenger, Joseph Foster, 24, survived the crash with non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders, including a dive team, arrived at the scene around 6 a.m.
After an extensive search, Heron was found deceased inside the vehicle.
Her family identified her through matching tattoos.
The vehicle, an Infiniti G37XS, reportedly struck a raised concrete walkway and the wall of a small bridge before plunging into the water.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
Due to the accident, westbound lanes of Griffin Road were closed temporarily, but officials confirmed they would reopen shortly.
Her obituary and funeral arrangements will be shared by the family at a later date.
