North Belfast, Northern Ireland – Aine O’Hara, a respected teacher at Priory Integrated College and a beloved community advocate, passed away unexpectedly at her family home on the morning of Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Her sudden passing has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and the entire North Belfast community, where she was well-known for her dedication and activism.
The news of her death was shared by her brother, Malachai O’Hara, in a heartfelt announcement on Facebook.
Aine O’Hara is deeply missed by her children, Cormac and Conall O’Donnell, her siblings Seamus, Malachai, and Emmett, and her loving parents, Geordie and Marie O’Hara.
A long-time resident of Ophir Gardens, she was a prominent figure in her community, particularly recognized for her extensive work in political canvassing and her dedication to education.
The Green Party of Northern Ireland expressed their condolences, stating, "Our thoughts are with Aine’s family, her children, and the community in North Belfast which she called home."
Tributes have also poured in from friends and colleagues, including Paul Daniel Rafferty, who described her as a "lovely lady" with great character.
